![]() The bits where you need to delete more of your cores to progress was once again a really cool way of integrating story and gameplay. In particular, the lead-up to the ending. As were the bits repeating the segment where you visit your own body and kill yourself repeatedly, on top of the theme of "MORE" being very integrated with the gameplay with the hacks and new enemy types quite literally making every milisecond of interaction with the systems engaging by overloading you much more information to process. In particular, the short "Aging" played on some personal anxieties of mine, and was done very well. There's a lot of things that work in my opinion. Especially if it's basically the narrative to the entire game.Īgain, I'm not against this plot entirely. It's beating a dead horse until it shatters into millions of red pieces, and I get that it's the point.īut it's a really dumb point. I'm not sure if that was the developer's intention, but that's exactly what it feels like when you make that the core plot element to your game and drag it on over and over again. Phrases like "Addict" "Anxiety" "Greed" and "Avarice" will appear several times, until eventually it just sorta feels like it's beating you over the head with a stick saying "GAMS BAD" over and over. However the subtlety wears down rather quickly. On the surface, this is something I'm totally fine with. The game has a slow boil to it, but slowly reveals itself to be much more 4th-wall breaking than its predecessor, instead of being a story of a character in a fictional setting being slowly mind controlled, it's berating the player in a sort of way for being so attached to video games in general. That out of the way, time to talk spoilers. Speaking as someone who got it for free, I can say I enjoyed my time spent with the game. I'm not trying to accuse any developers of soapboxing or trolling, or say this is some scam or waste of time. ![]() I loved the gameplay of this entry, and this does not effect my enjoyment of the overall series.
